Fall means football, and football officiating comes with its own set of equipment.

Before the season gets rolling, pull everything out and actually try it on. Check your shirts and pants. Make sure your flags are still in the bag. Find your whistle. Check your shoes.

And remember that a Georgia football season can cover a pretty wide range of weather.

What feels like too much clothing in August can become something you're very happy to own on a cold Friday night in November. Having the right layers and cold-weather gear before you need them beats scrambling for them the week the temperature drops.

Baseball and Softball Don't End When Summer Does

Football may take center stage in the fall, but baseball and softball certainly don't disappear.

Between fall leagues, travel ball, tournaments, and school programs, umpires stay plenty busy around Metro Atlanta.

If you've been behind the plate all spring and summer, fall is also a pretty good time to take inventory of the equipment you've been beating up for the last six months.

Check the mask. Check the chest protector and leg guards. Look at your shoes. And take a look at the little things — indicators, brushes, ball bags, and belts — that tend to wear out or disappear during the season.

One thing we've learned after years of selling umpire and referee equipment is that uniform standards change more often than you might expect.

Shirt styles change. Pants change. Associations change requirements. Something that every official needed a few years ago can suddenly become something nobody wears anymore.

Because of that, we don't try to fill the store with years' worth of every possible size and style.

We'd rather keep current inventory and reorder constantly.

We order officiating equipment throughout the year, so if we're temporarily out of your size or something you need, ask us. In most cases, we're happy to order it and can have it at the store within a few days.

Know What Your Association Requires

Officiating uniforms aren't universal.

Requirements can vary by sport, association, league, and level of play, so if you've been given specific uniform requirements by your association, bring that information with you.

We'll help you find what you need, but we'd rather work from the requirements you've actually been given than pretend every official in Georgia wears exactly the same thing.

That's particularly important if you're new to officiating.

Before spending money on an entire uniform, find out exactly what your association expects you to wear.

The Little Stuff Is Usually What Gets You

Most officials aren't showing up to a game and suddenly realizing they don't own pants.

It's the little stuff.

The flag that disappeared. The whistle you thought was in your bag. The indicator that finally broke. The belt that's seen better days. The ball bag you meant to replace three months ago.
